Intentional interim ministry serves congregations and ministry sites going through times of transition. Quite often this means transition of pastoral leadership, but includes other types of transition
Interim, or "transitional," ministers lead congregations and ministries through processes of identity work, healing, and preparation for the next steps God is calling them toward.

Interim Ministry has transformed and expanded greatly in the past few decades. No longer merely filling the gap between installed pastorates, it has evolved into a focus on transitional leadership. Ministers with specialized training in transition are needed more than ever to help congregations and leaders navigate the changing landscape in our church and our world.

The Interim Ministry Association (ELCA) is dedicated to promoting interim and transitional ministry within the ELCA through education, support and connection.

The Database of Interim Ministers is free to both interim ministers wishing to be listed and bishops and their staff who wish to search it. Please reach out to us for more information if you would like access to the database. Both ELCA rostered ministers and ministers of full communion partner denominations are welcome to add themselves to the database.
